Biometric Systems

A biometric device identifies and authenticates individuals by capturing and analyzing
their unique biological or behavioral traits, such as fingerprints, facial features, or voice patterns

These devices are used in various applications, including security, access control, and time and attendance tracking, offering a higher level of security than traditional methods like passwords and ID  cards.

They can be categorized as discrete devices that connect to a host, or integrated devices with built-in sensors.

How Biometric Devices Work

Capture Data: The device captures a specific physical or behavioral trait from a person.

Digital Conversion: This captured data is converted into a digital format.

Template Matching: The digital data is compared against stored digital templates of that individual’s traits to verify identity.

Verification: If the data matches the stored template, the identity is confirmed.

Facial Recognition: Analyze unique facial features and patterns.

Voice Recognition: Identifies individuals by analyzing the unique characteristics of their voice.

Vein Scanners: Scan the unique patterns of veins, often in the palm or finger.
